
It can often be challenging to smoothly and controllably lower heavy loads at high flow rates. Instability may occur, high system pressures are required to lower the load, and downstream pressure can cause problems.
With Sun Hydraulics’ load-holding valves MWM and MBM, the load is lowered by utilizing potential energy, and the flow is proportionally controlled. This allows the load to be lowered with a very low pilot pressure, which can be remotely controlled, for example, by a pressure reducing valve or joystick from a cab. The valve can be used both meter-in and meter-out and acts as a proportional two-way flow valve, completely sealed in neutral position. This also means the motor can be controlled in the opposite direction.
This provides a very smooth and controlled lowering of the load. It is also operator-friendly as the lowering speed can be remotely controlled. It is energy-efficient since very little pilot pressure is needed and it also lowers the overall system pressure.
This solution works excellently in a wide range of systems and applications such as winches and parallel operation of large cylinders, which can be challenging with standard load-holding valves.
The valve is easy to integrate into a custom manifold where choices of flanges and other functions such as replenishment, thermal overload protection, and emergency stop can be implemented as needed.
