Power Generation from Hydraulic Return Flow

With Sun Hydraulics’ innovative generator valve Energen, energy from the return flow is recovered. Electricity is generated by a small turbine driven by the fluid flow. It can produce up to 40 Watts and 3 Amps at a flow rate of 200 l/min.

Applications for Electricity Generation from Return Flow

Examples include recovering energy during a lowering motion where braking is needed, with the Energen valve converting that energy into electricity to charge batteries.

It can also be used in situations where the power source available to the end user is unknown—such as when building attachments that connect via quick couplings to various machines. In such cases, Energen can secure power supply to the attachment’s electrical system.

Energen is also a great solution when power is needed for a hard-to-reach consumer or where there is a high risk of cable damage.

Install in Existing Systems Using a Standard Line-Mount Cavity Manifold

Energen is installed in a standard line-mount hydraulic manifold using T-16A cavity. If you want to add the function, you can do so in existing return lines. Of course, the valve can also be integrated into custom-designed hydraulic manifolds.
