Small and lightweight for finest braking, continuous rotation.
Rotary dampers from ACE Controls are used to slow down and control the speed of rotary or linear motion in a smooth and controlled manner. Inside the damper, resistance is created—typically through a fluid or silicone-based gel—when a shaft rotates. This resistance generates a damped movement, allowing, for example, a lid or panel to close gently instead of slamming shut. By slowing down the motion in this way, both components and users are protected, while the product gains a sense of higher quality. These dampers function as compact, maintenance-free mechanical elements that prevent shocks, jerks, and unnecessary wear in various applications.

Rotary dampers are commonly used in applications where a gentle and controlled motion is desirable—such as the opening and closing of small hatches, compartments, and drawers. They provide a “soft close” effect that protects delicate components and enhances the perceived quality of the product. Rotary dampers are also found in controls, levers, and pedals, and are frequently used in furniture, interior design, medical technology, food processing, automation, and the automotive industry.
ACE’s rotary dampers are available in several configurations—with either continuous rotation or a limited rotation angle, and with damping in one or both directions. They are easy to integrate, either directly into a rotating shaft or in combination with a rack for linear motion. Available in both polymer and metal versions, they can be tailored to different environmental and performance requirements. Operating in temperatures ranging from -10 °C to +60 °C, they offer damping torques from as low as 0.05 Ncm up to 40 Nm—making them highly versatile for everything from fine mechanical systems to more demanding industrial applications.
