Radial piston motor for frame integrated drives. Compact robust construction. High volumetric and mechanical efficiencies.
Radial piston motors are powerful hydraulic motors designed to deliver high torque even at very low speeds. They are especially well-suited for applications that demand maximum force, precision, and operational reliability – such as winches, cranes, feed systems, and marine drives. Thanks to their unique construction, they offer excellent efficiency, long service life, and consistent performance under demanding conditions.

Radial piston motor for frame integrated drives. Compact robust construction. High volumetric and mechanical efficiencies.
In a radial piston motor, the pistons are arranged radially around an eccentrically mounted cam or crankshaft. As pressurized hydraulic fluid enters the motor, it pushes the pistons outward, which in turn apply force against the cam to generate rotation of the output shaft. Since the pistons act perpendicularly to the shaft (unlike axial piston motors), very high torque can be transferred efficiently at low speeds, with excellent controllability.
Radial piston motors are available with either fixed or variable displacement. A fixed displacement motor delivers constant torque at a given flow rate, making it ideal for applications with steady loads. Variable displacement models allow the displacement – and thus speed and torque – to be adjusted according to the system’s demand, which increases energy efficiency and operational flexibility in systems with changing load conditions.
Due to their robust and balanced design, radial piston motors can produce extremely high torque with excellent efficiency, even at low rotational speeds. They offer precise speed and torque control, minimal vibration, and are often self-locking at standstill – ideal for holding loads without the need for external brakes. Their construction also ensures long service life and low wear, even during continuous heavy-duty operation.
Radial piston motors are used wherever high power and precise motion control are essential. Common areas include winch drives, feed rollers, marine bow thrusters, rotary actuators, and other heavy-duty industrial or marine applications. Their ability to handle high loads over long periods without performance loss makes them a top choice in the most demanding environments.
