SUN Hydraulics date codes

SUN Hydraulics uses date codes on their cartridge valves to track the exact manufacturing date. In the attached document, the date key is explained.

SUN Hydraulics date codes from 1986 onward

Example: 8AA6-A1

The first and last characters in the first part of the code, 8AA6-A1, in this case 8 and 6, represent the year, so this is 1986. The two middle characters indicate month and day: 8AA6-A1, as shown in the list below. The first character A represents the month, and the second character, also A in this case, represents the day. The second character is not always a letter – it can also be a digit, especially for later days in the month when the alphabet is not sufficient.

The last characters, 8AA6-A1, represent the location code, but this is not always marked and may therefore be omitted.
